Ahead of the latest MotoGP™ Ignition Pack sale — Hot Shots — we want to provide some more details on what to expect when it comes to the first gameplay utility for the Collectible Cards.

The main gameplay experience will be a competitive management game, where players can customise their teams down to the technology of their bikes, and go head-to-head against other players.

But we see MotoGP™ Ignition as a full experience, which provides gameplay types for all players, as well as incentives and rewards for collectors, too. We’ll be sharing a little more info on the latter part in the coming weeks, but for now, we want to focus on the first main utility that Card owners can expect when we release MotoGP™ Ignition Card Champions.

Card Champions

MotoGP™ Ignition Card Champions is a gameplay mode which allows players to compete in a fantasy sport-like event. As with all games within the REVV Motorsport metaverse, Card Champions is also a Play-to-Earn experience, with prizes available in the form of NFTs, REVV and other tokens.

The format will provide events of different durations for players to participate in, from short 3 day events, to longer events consisting of 18 days — a full season’s worth of races to play.

Each event will have a leaderboard, where all participating players compete together.

What’s Needed to Play

If you want to play Card Champions, all you need is any of the MotoGP™ Ignition Cards which have been released to date, that includes the upcoming Hot Shots. The Card Champions gameplay mode can be accessed directly from the MotoGP™ Ignition website, when it releases late October.

To participate in any of the Card Champions events, a REVV fee is required, as with other titles across the REVV Motorsport ecosystem. But we want to ensure that we don’t place a rigid barrier, so we’ll look at providing more accessibility via modes and pricing tiers.

How to Play

Like traditional fantasy sports, the performance of your selected MotoGP™ stars during an event, are referenced from real life races. A player needs to commit two Cards (at minimum), and pay a REVV fee to participate.

The different Card types have different weightings in relation to the points earnable, with those players hunting down a perfect pair of a matching Rider and Bike, able to gain the greatest benefits. But all cards remain playable.

All Cards are playable, but certain combinations can yield greater points.

The type of Cards that are being played, and how close they synergise (they always need to be of the same team), will impact the Point-earning potential. This is a example breakdown of this design:

Although the lowest point yield, Hot Shot Cards have the greatest flexibility. With some containing 2, 3, and up to a full grid of stars.

Even though a Rider and Bike pair can earn the most points, it still needs to be a winning pairing. A Team and Hot Shot pairing could be the best set, for consistent points.

How Does Rarity Work

The rarity level of a Card — Common, Rare, Epic or Legendary — does not give a player greater leverage when it comes to winning. More points aren’t received. We want to make sure we don’t decrease the motivation for players to join. But we also want to make sure there is in-game value for having those Cards.

Instead of receiving more points for having those Cards in play, the player will instead receive an increase in rewards for playing those Cards. This table presents a simple example of this logic:

Not a points benefit, but an earn benefit. Rewarding higher rarity, without creating an unfair playing field.

Play-to-Earn Rewards

Although participation in the Card Champions events requires a REVV fee, it is part of the REVV Motorsport Play-to-Earn ecosystem. This means that all participants can always walk away with something for their effort.

The core prize at the launch of Card Champions will be REVV (with REVV being available on the Flow blockchain via the REVV Bridge before the release of the game mode). Another prize will be MotoGP™ Ignition Keys, which can be earned in fractional values, with complete Keys being able to open MotoGP™ Ignition NFTs, which are required and usable for the management gameplay mode.

Getting Ready

If you were able to reserve your time slot for the upcoming MotoGP™ Ignition Hot Shots sale, you can head over to the MotoGP™ Ignition website, and get ready for the coming sale.

If you missed out this time, you can start browsing available Cards and Packs over at the VIV3 NFT marketplace on Flow: MotoGP™ Ignition Collection.

Note, that as this mode is still in development, it is always subject to change as we continue to play-test and tune for the best experience. Also, once released, we will be listening to player feedback to tune and balance the game to offer the best possible experience.
