Introducing MotoGP™ Ignition, powered by REVV

Animoca Brands and REVV are bringing MotoGP™ to blockchain! Your favourite teams, cars, and riders will soon become digital collectibles that can be used in the upcoming blockchain game: MotoGP™ Ignition. And the first content sale begins 26 March 2021 — don’t miss out!

REVV Motorsport is a connected blockchain gaming motorsport ecosystem that uses the REVV ERC-20 token as the main currency for purchase and utility. You can learn more about REVV here.

REVV Motorsport brings the biggest, most recognisable motorsport brands to blockchain in the form of competitive games utilizing non-fungible tokens (NFTs). Each NFT is a unique digital collectible. Owners have true digital ownership over their NFTs — they can do whatever they want with them, including using them in any supported games or selling them in a secondary market for real money.

A key concept of the REVV Motosport ecosystem is Play-to-Earn: players of our games can earn rewards that have real value, including REVV itself. The first REVV Motorsport title is F1® Delta Time (playable right now) allows players to compete in famous Formula 1® events for prizes that include REVV and NFTs. MotoGP™ Ignition will follow this Play-to-Earn model and reward users for successful plays.

Turn the ignition key — Introducing MotoGP™ Ignition

The latest title to enter the REVV Motorsport ecosystem is MotoGP™ Ignition: an officially licensed MotoGP™ competitive management and collectibles game built on the Flow blockchain.

MotoGP™ Ignition will deliver two forms of MotoGP™ branded experiences centered around limited-edition non-fungible tokens (NFTs): Collection and Racing Management.

Collection — Ignition Complete

Ignition Complete is the collectibles platform within MotoGP™ Ignition. The MotoGP™ collectibles are in the form of card NFTs.

The collectible card NFTs can be acquired through the purchase of Card Packs. You get 3 random cards by opening a pack (if you are lucky, you can get more!). Each card pack has a theme that determines what kind of NFTs you will get when you open that pack. For example, the card packs offered in the sale starting on 26 March 2021will be themed as “2020 Season”, meaning that all NFTs will be based on the 2020 Season.

Although we kick off with the 2020 Season (a curtain call for the past year of great two — wheel racing), future card packs will also feature the latest championships, as well as delving into the archives and legends of MotoGP™.

Further details on cards, packs, and the scarcity model will be released in a later article ahead of the sale, together with the anatomy of the sale.

Racing Management — Ignition Legends

Ignition Legends is where the MotoGP™ Ignition players compete using their MotoGP™ NFTs in a competitive, multiplayer management game.

Players will go head-to-head in races, deciding what they want their rider to do on a lap-by-lap basis. Are you at the back of the grid? Direct your rider to run an aggressive lap to gain places, while losing some stamina in the process. Confidence may increase, which could lead to a drop in concentration. As the manager, you need to juggle all these factors and know when and what to tell your rider: cool down, hold position, or to go for the podium!

Outside of the race itself, you are also responsible for your bikes, including maintenance, as well as the riders’ condition. In MotoGP™ Ignition, you will have to build a full team, including bikes, drivers, mechanics, and coaches, while sourcing the best gear for your drivers and the best parts for your bike. You can look forward to a full and engaging gameplay experience!

Remember, all of these in-game assets — bikes, riders, coaches, mechanics, and parts such as mufflers, shocks, brakes — are tradable NFTs with true digital ownership as described above.

The Platform

Both Ignition Complete and Ignition Legends will be interoperable to a certain degree, allowing assets from one to have some function in the other. Completing a set of collectibles can earn you gameplay benefits and bonuses.

For example, if you have a set of Valentino Rossi Cards across his championship winning seasons, you will enjoy a performance boost to your Valentino Rossi rider during gameplay. In this way we will emphasize the collectible aspect and help our players to generate value for all their cards, not just the highest rated ones.

If the name of your game is collecting, instead of racing or racing management, then this system is perfect for you.

What to Watch For

As we’ve announced previously: MotoGP™ Ignition’s first sale will begin on 26 March 2021 ( exact time to be confirmed), and the first ‘Drop’ of card packs will celebrate the 2020 MotoGP™ Championship season.

In the coming days, we’ll be sharing how the sale works, details on the pack and card supply, the price ranges, and how you can participate.

Remember this is only the first sale! In the near future we will bring you legends (both human and motorized) from different seasons; there will be no shortage of collectible cards and sets to complete.
